Informational meeting for jazz band

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

There is a jazz band informational meeting open to any student in the instrumental music program on Wednesday, September 1 at 7:15am in the instrumental music room.

This is an auditioned ensemble and generally consists of flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trombones, baritones, trumpets, piano, guitar, bass, and drum set.  Other instruments are added based upon the repertoire and students’ interest.  The jazz band rehearses once (1) a week on  Wednesdays, before school and during the day 1 Lion’s Pride period.  They perform at several jazz festivals in the Spring, as well as at the Winter and Spring orchestra concert.  The jazz band performs at various other community events as well as on the Spring trip.  Auditions will be held the week of September 20-24.  Parents are required to provide or arrange transportation for their child to various events.

Students who are interested in participating in jazz band should attend the information meeting this Wednesday morning where they will receive information detailing the audition and selection process.
