Rehearsal Schedule – Every Tuesday & Friday at 7:15 am when school is in session.
Each quarter the students are required to perform a chair audition (playing test). Chair auditions provide me the opportunity to hear each student perform independently and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.
The results of the chair audition are used to determine seating order for concerts and to identify areas the whole ensemble needs to focus on during rehearsals.
Chair auditions will be held next week (Oct. 5-9) during the students assigned lesson time.
The violins, violas, and basses will be performing selections from the orchestra piece Rock the Bells. They will also be performing the following 3 scales:
- G Major scale (see attached scale sheet) or exercise #16 in the red book.
- D Major Scale: exercise # 62 in the blue lesson book or exercise #3 in the red book
- C Major Scale: exercise#127 in the blue book or exercise #24 in the red book
All the orchestra students have personal copies of the music to be formed in their orchestra folder.
Rosin for your instrument:
Violin rosin: You will want to use a light rosin. It is avialable at your local music store or online.
Viola rosin: You will want to use a light rosin. It is avialable at your local music store or online.
Cello rosin: You will want to use a dark rosin. It is avialable at your local music store or online.
Bass rosin: You will want to use a rosin. It is avialable at your local music store or online.
