INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC LESSONS

All instrumental music students MUST take lessons wither in school or privately. Students may take school lessons in addition to private lessons.

Students who take private lessons are required to attend four lessons, one each marking period, to complete a performance evaulation.

COLOR GUARD ANNOUNCEMENTS

Make sure you are practicing your basic skills at home: marching skills, equipment skills, spins, combinations, routines, etc.

Just a quick reminder that you need to wear sneakers to early morning band. We are marching outside, so it is a safety concern if you are wearing shoes that are not sneakers. You can bring other shoes so you can change out of your sneakers at the end of rehearsal and wear your other shoes for the rest of the school day.

We have been invited to perform on the main concourse for the LV Phantoms on the opening night, Saturday, October 3.  We will play a variety of our band pep songs and marches while fans enter the arena.  We did this last year and had a great time.  

This is a voluntary performance.  This performance opportunity is open to all the winds and percussion in the band.  All participants, students, parents, and guardians, need to purchase a ticket to the game to participate.  Tickets at $25 per person.  Parents are responsible for transporting their child and their child’s instrument to and from the game.  You will need to arrive around 5:15 pm so we can begin at 6 pm.
Student tickets can be reimbursed using fairshare provided you have $25 in their fairshare account.  You will need to provide me a copy of the game ticket receipt.

Please complete the form below so we can organize the performing ensemble. You will find a link at the end of the form to purchase tickets directly through the LV Phantoms. Registrations are due by September 20.

Rehearsals for the Phantoms performance are:

  • Monday, September 28 from 3:15 – 4:00 PM
  • Thursday, October 1 from 3:15 to 4:00 PM

Parents are encouraged to volunteer and get involved in the instrumental music program. We need volunteers for parades, concerts, and many other activities. 

Parents must have their clearances on file in the Nitschmann office.  If you are not sure if your information is on file, contact the Nitschmann office at 610-866-5781. Information on how to renew or apply for your clearances can be found at http://www.nmsim.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/BASD-Volunteer-Clearance-Info.pdf.

Signing up for a volunteer job

Once a member or guardian has logged into their dashboard, they can click on “Events.” Events with open volunteer slots will show a green banner that says, “volunteers needed.”

When you click on the event, you will see the event details and all volunteer opportunities associated with that event. Then click “Sign up” to reserve your slot. You will see all the names of people who have signed up for that opportunity.

Volunteers can remove themselves from a volunteer opportunity they have signed up for by clicking “Delete” next to their name.

NIMAS By-Laws 2024

The next NIMAS general membership meeting is Wednesday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the instrumental music room.

Attendees should enter through the MAIN BUILDING ENTRANCE. Doors will be unlocked from 7:15 – 7:45 P.M.

NIMAS Fall Mum Sale

There are two sizes available: 6-inch mums for $8 and 9-inch mums for $9.50. Standard colors will be available. Students will earn $3 per 6-inch mum / $4 per 9-inch mum toward their fair share account.

Please complete the order form and return it to Mr. Zettlemoyer before October 9th with your payment. Please submit one check or cash per order. You may submit multiple orders. (You must submit payment whwen you place each order)

Checks should be made payable to NIMAS.

Vouchers will be distributed on Mondays.

With football starting up, I wanted to let you know that starting today, 9/12/26 through 9/27/26, you can place an order online for pierogi’s by going here – The Pierogi Kings (click). Pick-up will be on October 8th at 4pm-5pm and remember that Nitschmann doesn’t have a place to store leftover items. For those of you that haven’t heard, The Pierogi Kings actually purchased the Bayou Boys pierogi business last year to better serve the Lehigh Valley. This is a great opportunity to support a local business and a Lehigh Valley local, Hunter Keim, more about him here.
